ぶあいそ猫と日常を撮ってみる: 皇居の通り抜け Tokyo Imperial Palace

月曜日に皇居の”通り抜け”の紅葉を見に行ってきました。
有楽町の駅で降りて少し歩く。お堀端に帝国劇場。相変わらずの風景。
普段、田舎の小さな家並みばかり見ていて、たまに有楽町界隈のオフィス街の馬鹿
でかい建物なんかを見ると立ち眩みがします（笑）
お堀端を歩いているとじきに桜田門が見えてきました。
人があまりいないのにお巡りさんがやたらと多い印象。最近の靖国のテロとかも無
関係じゃないんでしょうね。
門の近辺には結構いました、人。でも休日は多分こんなもんじゃないんでしょうね。

桜田門から入って、二重橋、宮殿、隣接する宮内庁庁舎を見て、皇居東御苑に行き、
天守閣跡、桃華楽堂を見て大手門から出て帰ってきました。

「皇居通り抜け」というのは、天皇陛下の傘寿を記念して、普段は一般公開されてい
ない、乾門通りの並木を春と秋の一定期間だけ一般に開放している行事のことで、誰
でも参観できますが、私たちが行ったときには二つの検問所で、バッグの中身と簡単
な身体検査をされました。あまりに仰々しいので笑ってしまいましたが（笑）、フランス
や西欧各地でのテロ多発で、他人ごとじゃないのかも。

天皇陛下が住まわれている御苑のほうはもちろんもっと豪華なのでしょうが、今回見た
ところはほんとに地味で質素な印象。外国人観光客が京都御所に観光に行って、その
あまりの地味さ、外との垣根の低さにびっくりしたという話を聞きました。日本の皇室と
西欧などの王室の歴史的な成り立ちの違いでしょうね。あちらは武力と富で民衆を圧
倒することで権力を保っていたのに対し天皇は民衆の穏やかな尊敬を集めた権威でした。

ここでも外国人観光客がちらほらいましたが、靖国神社のほうが多かった印象です。

重いのと面倒なので50mmf1.8のレンズしか持って行かなかったのですが、50mm
というのは殆ど望遠なんですね。当たり前ですが引きの写真がダメなので風景がうま
く撮れない。18-55mmのほうを持っていけばよかった。

I went to see the Imperial Palace on last Monday.

Although the palace garden not usually open to the public, people may see inside
for several days of spring and autumn of the year. This event is called "Kokyo no
Torinuke (皇居の通り抜け)". It means "going through the palace". The event
started in commemoration of sanju(傘寿, the cerebration of the Emperor's
80th birthday) in 2013.

Exiting the Yurakucho station of the JR Yamanote line, we immediately can see
the Teikoku-gekijo Theater and the moat around the Palace.
After 10 minutes' walk along the moat, we arrived the Sakurada-mon which is one
of the entrance gates of the Palace.
There were many policemen for security around the gate relative to the number of
visitor. I guess this is because of the latest South Korean 's terror attack
aimed at Yasukuni shrine. He detonated a self-produced time bomb in the restroom
of Yasukuni. Now terrorist attacks occur frequently in various locations all over
the world. Japan might be no exception.

Seemingly the Palace garden is so plain and simple. Maybe Gosho(御所, the imperial
family's residence) is more gorgeous, but generally most of the Japanese cultural
sites don't look glitz or showy, rather lack of color unlike other countries'.
Not for sure, but I think it appears associated with the Japanese people's modest
and low-keyed character.

　都会のど真ん中の水のある風景は癒されますねー。The water landscape in the middle of the city revives our hearts.

　皇居桜田門。ここから入りました。The Sakurada-mon Gate. We entered the Palace's garden from here.

　桜田門と言えば、安政の大獄。井伊直弼大老はこの近辺で暗殺されたのでしょうか。　At the end of the samurai period, Ii Naosuke (井伊直弼), then the chief minister to the Tokugawa Shogunate, was assassinated around here by the supporters of the doctrine of restoring the emperor.

　有名な二重橋。Widely known Nijyu-bashi。One of the bridges that leads to the imperial Palace.

　紅葉のさかり。

桃華楽堂。これは「香淳皇后のご還暦を記念して，皇居東御苑内の旧江戸城の天守閣跡に隣接する地に，昭和41年2月に建てられた音楽堂」だそうです。The Toka-gakudo was a music hall that was build in commemoration of the Empress Kojun's kanreki in 1966 in higashi-gyoen (former castle tower of Edo Castle ). " Kanreki" is celebration of turning sixty years old.

蓮池参集所。天皇陛下がここで勤労奉仕団を労うらしいです。勤労奉仕団という人たちのことも知らなかったし、陛下ご夫妻がここで一般人を労うという習慣も知らなかった。皇室の歴史、日本の歴史には日本人が知らないことがいっぱい。This is Hasuike-sanshujo. Here, the Emperor has a habit of appreciating the pains labor service groups have taken.

バックに国会議事堂が見えます。See Kokkai-gijido (国会議事堂, ｐarliament house) in the distance.

　東御苑にある江戸城天守閣跡。The ruins of the tower of Edo-jo castle in the Higashi-Gyoen.

　そういえば江戸城はどうしたんだっけ、江戸城が見たかったなあ、と思い調べたら、大政奉還のあと、一部がしばらく皇室の住居となっていたが、その後火事や空襲で焼けてしまったらしい。日本の最も安定した、大衆文化が華やかだった江戸時代の象徴のお城が今はもう見られない、と思うと残念。
After the Meiji restoration, the emperor family had lived for while in the Edo-jo, and then the castle was destroyed by a fire and US air attacks, etc. The Edo era was an exceptional stable time in the history of Japan. It lasted about two hundred and fifty years. During this time, many popular cultures blossomed, such as a tea ceremony, flower arrangement, Ukiyo-e (Japanese woodblock print） and popular novel. I do wish I could see the real Edo castle, the symbol of Edo period.
